The CW to Kick Off Fall Season with Exclusive Television Broadcast of Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio Music Festival 2012

The CW announced today that it will kick off its Fall 2012 season with an exclusive broadcast of Clear Channel‘s massive iHeartRadio Music Festival, Monday, Oct. 1, 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET. The two-day concert event will take place Sept. 21-22 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

Artists scheduled to perform at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival include Usher, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Swedish House Mafia, P!nk, Aerosmith, Rihanna, No Doubt, Lil Wayne, Miranda Lambert, Shakira, Brad Paisley, Enrique Iglesias, Green Day, Jason Aldean, Mary J. Blige, Linkin Park, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Pitbull with more to be announced in the weeks prior to the event. The performances to be featured on The CW’s Oct. 1 special will be determined and announced following the two-day concert event.

Caught in the middle of a high-intensity struggle for survival, you fight off hordes of flesh-hungry, growling “walkers,” or zombies. No place is safe as you make your way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland with horror at every turn. Will you survive?

This fall, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are joining forces with AMC’s The Walking Dead for their Halloween Horror Nights events. Visitors to both theme parks will be able to experience the horror of AMC’s blockbuster original series, The Walking Dead, in elaborately themed, haunted mazes. It marks the first-time Universal Studios has featured a television series at Halloween Horror Nights on both coasts.

The Golden Globe-nominated, Emmy Award-winning, series The Walking Dead is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The Walking Dead is the number-one drama series in basic cable history for adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Universal Studios’ Halloween creative teams are working with AMC and The Walking Dead, to create an authentic experience that is true to the Emmy Award-winning hit series. The haunted mazes on both coasts feature eerily authentic, elaborately designed, movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to “life” the vicious, hungry, zombies from the show.

An Evening with Marian Call during Comic-Con Weekend!

Marian Call will be in San Diego during Comic-Con weekend and will be performing at the Space Travelers Emporium on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. They are located at 1947 30th St, San Diego, CA 92104. All ages are welcome. The event is Free, but a $10 recommended artist donation should be considered. The concert is well worth the donation! (She will also have a booth at Comic-Con from what I hear.)

Previous Marian Call concerts at the Emporium have been wonderful fun. Her songs’ themes range the geeky gamut from Battlestar Galactica to Jane Austen, with a mix of spaceships, road trips, and intelligent humor. We’re looking forward to hearing some new ones from her latest album, Something Fierce, as well as old favorites.

The Space Travelers Emporium is also having a Space Art Show during the South Park Walkabout from July 14, 2012 to July 28, 2012.

Fans have been waiting for this special day for many years. Adam West fired up the billion dollar Batman franchise: the golden years and the classic Batman, the Bright Knight. During the span of a 50-year career, from Batman to the voice of Quahog’s Mayor on Family Guy, Adam West has become a television icon.

Born in Walla Walla, Washington as William West Anderson , Adam began his career as a radio DJ and TV show host. He arrived in Hollywood in 1959, after landing a contract with Warner Brothers studios. That same year, he made his feature film debut opposite Paul Newman in The Young Philadelphians.

A long line of TV roles followed on shows like Maverick, Bonanza and The Outer Limits, as well as a co-starring role for a season on The Detectives.

But, in 1965, his life would change forever when producer William Dozier, impressed by Adam’s talent, looks and humor, handpicked him to take on the title role of ABC’s new TV series, BATMAN.

It’s been said the biggest pop-culture phenomena of the 1960’s can be boiled down to the “Three B’s”: Beatles, Bond, and BATMAN. In the early 1960’s, Batman was simply a cartoon character in a comic book that was close to cancellation, but Adam West’s performance in the ground-breaking TV adaptation propelled Batman into becoming one of the most-famous characters in modern fiction. West’s turn as the “classic” Batman has laid the foundation for the success of all the incarnations of the “Caped Crusader” that have followed after him. The smash success of the TV series, and the feature film that followed shortly thereafter, launched Adam West into international superstardom in 1966.

After its original run, BATMAN entered into non-stop syndication and Adam West has continued to garner new generations of fans all over the world for the past 40 years. All the while, he’s continued to work on stage, in movies and TV, and as a much sought-after voice actor.

Writer & Artist Super-team Headline Midnight Madness Festivities at Midtown Comics in NY Times Square August 30th

Come August 30th, the streets of New York may be getting some extra super heroes, as hundreds of costumed fans are expected in-line outside of New York’s Midtown Comics (200 West 40th street) in anticipation of DC Comics midnight launch of its new No. 1 titles.

The midnight event will give fans an exclusive opportunity to purchase “Justice League” No. 1, the new historic title from DC Comics, starring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and others. Fans who wait in-line will also have the opportunity to meet the comic book icons behind the title, Jim Lee and Geoff Johns, as well as purchase the conclusion to this summer’s blockbuster series, “Flashpoint” No. 5. The Midnight Madness event and historic launch are all in support of DC Entertainment’s goal of giving casual and long-time fans an opportunity to enjoy comics in an easy, accessible way.

Marvel Makes Inaugural Appearance at Disney’s D23 Expo!

Get It. Design It. Parade It. Macy’s Great American Elf Adventure…

Macy’s magical elves are appearing by the thousands in cities across the country in celebration of the upcoming 85th Anniversary of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. However, due to a whimsical twist of fate, in their jubilation and rush to spread the word on this wondrous milestone of America’s Parade, the elves left Santa’s workshop without a speck of color.  Once they realized their error, the elves took refuge at various locations across the country and now wait for some holiday help to arrive from Parade fans in all 50 states, as well as Guam and Puerto Rico. To rectify this magical mishap, Macy’s Great American Elf Adventure kicks off on Tuesday, August 9th. Find one of Macy’s Parade’s missing elves, give it a makeover and you could see your winning elf design transformed into a Macy’s Parade Balloon, as it soars high on Thanksgiving Day in front of over 3.5 million live spectators and more than 50 million television viewers nationwide.

“Macy’s Great American Elf Adventure is a fantastic way to kick-off our 85th Anniversary celebrations,” said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Since 1947, the iconic Macy’s elf balloons have been fan favorites and for generations have served as an emblem of the Macy’s Parade. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help create a key element of America’s favorite parade is one that aspiring artists should not miss.  We can’t wait to see all the inspired creations and look forward to the winning design joining the rest of the Macy’s elf family in the Parade this year.”

To become a Macy’s Parade balloonatic (a.k.a. Macy’s Parade balloon designers) and help the stranded little ones make it to the Parade, first you must find an elf and let your imagination take over as you paint and transform it from a colorless gnome, into a multicolor creation of wonder.

GET IT

Over 10,000 of Macy’s Parade’s ever rambunctious elves have magically taken residence at Macy’s stores nationwide and at other locations in select cities. To find one, look for clues on Macy’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/Macys) and via Twitter @macysevents or #macyself.  Each day from August 9th – August 24th, Macy’s will post a clue and password that will help reveal the location of elves at 669 Macy’s stores across the country or at other special locales. For the clever adventurer, these clues will point to various in-store departments where elves have found shelter. Once elf hunters have deduced the location, they must tell a department sales associate the daily password to receive their coveted sprite. The daily clue and password can also be received by texting* ELF to MACYS (62297). A helpful hint for elf hunters is to check Macy’s Facebook page often to see if there are any elves left to be rescued at their nearest Macy’s store.

In addition to the mass elf invasion at stores nationwide, 10 cities will get in on the elfin’ fun when they host Macy’s Elf-Apolooza, a fun-filled event for the whole family. A few of the more high-spirited gnomes decided that a road trip across the country to visit fans would be a good way to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving Day milestone. Starting on August 9 in New York City and Jackson, MS, the elves and some helpers will hit the road and visit Los Angeles (August 11); Omaha, NE (August 12); Detroit, MI (August 13); Little Rock, AR (August 14); Greenville, SC (August 17); Des Moines, IA (August 18);  El Paso, TX (August 19); and Anchorage, AK (August 20). At Macy’s Elf-Apolooza, elves will be distributed to fans from a custom designed mobile unit, along with Macy’s Parade items and other giveaways.

DESIGN IT

After the hunt is over, and a budding Macy’s Parade artist has one of the coveted elves, it’s time for the magic to begin. With splashes of color, fans are asked to let their imagination take flight and design what could be the newest member of the Parade elf family that will join C.J., Kit, and Charlie Elf in the holiday spectacular. Once the masterpiece is complete, the artist should submit a detailed front and back photo of their creation. To enter the design, participants will need to “Like” Macy’s on Facebook and then proceed to download the “Elf” application. Entries must include the identification serial number found on the packaging containing the elf (all real Macy’s elves will have one) and upload their photo/complete application by Wednesday, August 24 at 11:59:59 PM ET.

PARADE IT

From the received entries, a judging panel from Macy’s Parade & Entertainment Group will narrow down the entries to the Top 85. These entries will be posted on Macy’s Facebook page on Tuesday, August 30th for fans/friends to begin casting votes on their favorite. The Elf design with the most votes as of Tuesday, September 6th at 11:59:59 PM ET, will be announced in mid-September.  From here, the design will be transformed into a helium wonder by the magicians of Macy’s Parade Studio. Besides designing the next elf balloon, the winning artist and three guests will receive a trip to New York City to see the Parade live and enjoy their elf’s maiden flight in the holiday spectacular.

The 85th Anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on Thursday, November 24, 2011 from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M., in all time zones on NBC-TV.
