There’s Going To Be A MONSTER MASSACRE at San Diego Comic-Con 2012

Heavy Metal, the premiere magazine for fantasy and science fiction comics, is proud to announce a special edition that will feature many of the top artists working in comics and fantasy today! Set for mass release in July 2012, Heavy Metal will also be presenting a limited edition version at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 with a wraparound cover collaboration from IFS founder Stanley “Artgerm” Lau and comic legend Jim Steranko.

This special issue is like a who’s who of comics featuring the following creators;

Barnaby Bagus, Toby Cypress, Dave Dorman, Dave Elliott, Alex Horley, Andy Kuhn, Ron Marz, Mark A Nelson, Tom Raney, Philip Tan and Dave Wilkins

“This issue is going to be a blast.” States Atomeka co-founder, Dave Elliott. “Last years issue with Imaginary Friends Studios was great to help put together, but this year I get to contribute as well.” On the subject of the variant covers Dave adds, “The Direct Sales and Newsstand audiences are different, so by offering two covers I hope we can appeal to different audiences that will both enjoy the diverse content.” Imaginary Friends Studio President Stanley “Artgerm” Lau is providing the Newsstand cover while Sami Bari and Jessica Kholinne, who provided exceptions runs on both Power Girl and Voodoo for DC Comics, have produced the Direct Sales cover. Both covers will be available to the Direct Sales Market.

In addition there will be a San Diego Comic-con exclusive cover produced in conjunction with DeviantART who are once again sponsoring Artists Alley at the show. This cover will be a collaboration between Stanley Lau and Jim Steranko.

The back covers to all three editions will have covers by winners of a competition run by Kevin Eastman and Dave Elliott through their DeviantART pages. Stanley Lau will help judge the finalists.
