More Comic-Con 2013 Exclusives from Hasbro!

Hasbro brings us four more exclusives for Comic-Con 2013. First there’s My Little Pony‘s DJ Pon-3 which will be $49.99 at the Hasbro booth. The next item is Jem from Jem and the Holograms. This is the “Glitter N’ Gold” figure priced at $140. The third exclusive is Marvel LegendsThunderbolts set priced at $89.99 for  Luke Cage, Crossbones, Ghost, Moonstone and Judith Chambers.

A limited supply of exclusives will be available at HasbroToyShop.com after the convention.

My Little Pony

Hasbro - My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic - DJ Pon-3 - Comic-Con 2013 - SDCC ExclusivesA fan favorite who first appeared in the first season of Friendship is Magic on the Hub Network, DJ Pon-3 ($49.99) makes her debut with a Comic-Con exclusive — and a shiny one at that. In addition to a musical note as her “cutie mark,” her sunglasses and unicorn horn are embellished with Swarovski crystal elements that tie into the year’s theme of the Crystal Empire.

Hasbro hosts a panel at Comic-Con featuring voice talent from the show, previews a fall line of toys at its booth and offers a poll where fans can elect their favorite pony from the “mane six” — Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Applejack — and record testimonials at a video booth before the vote goes live at Hubworld.com/vote4ponies on July 22.+++

This time, though, she comes with more detail, a better and more realistic sculpt, and accessories including an extra dress and a record trophy.

To pair with the vehicles, the set stars the Cobra femme fatale Baroness with the Decepticon character Ravage, G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes with an Autobot logo on his outfit, the Autobot Blaster in his boom-box form and his tapes, and a robotic samurai warrior with a skeleton head in the colors of the Decepticon Bludgeon.

Disney is RUMORED to Buy Hasbro…

Last week, Disney and George Lucas shocked everyone by announcing that Lucas had sold LucasFilm, the rights to the Star Wars films and its characters to Disney for approximately $4 billion. This week, rumors are flying that Disney may possibly buy Hasbro! Disney would then become somewhat of a monopoly of gigantic proportions to entertainment (theme parks and movies) and its merchandising of products (toys and games)!

The Lucasfilm acquisition has been reported as taking only 6 months to complete, so these discussions with Hasbro are probably pretty serious. This can definitely impact the entertainment industry in a big way. Disney would get the rights to the Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, Dungeons and Dragons and several other tv/movie/game/toy franchises. It would definitely broaden their audience and also bring back some franchises back to Disney to be under one roof.

It seemed for a time that Disney was losing its grip on their audience until it acquired Pixar. There seemed to be too many “princess” movies and not enough movies that boys would like. Marvel and Star Wars have definitely changed that picture. Will prices for Disney-owned merchandise go up significantly as well? Hopefully not, but only time will tell.

If all this does come to pass, what happens to The Hub (and other shows) and the comics with IDW and Dark Horse? Do they all go away? Or will Disney incorporated everything? There are still a lot of questions to be answered here. Hopefully, most entities will stay in place in some way. Overall, it’s good for Disney, hopefully it will be good for fans as well.

Syfy Ventures and Hasbro to Launch First Ever G.I. JOE Social Game

Syfy Ventures and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) today announced they will develop the first ever online social game based on the iconic G.I. JOE brand, marking the latest addition to Syfy Games’ action-packed entertainment slate targeting male core gamers on social network platforms.

The game, G.I. Joe: Special Ops, will launch in June on Facebook and Syfy Games.com (www.syfy.com/gijoe), among other platforms worldwide.

In the arena-based combat game, players can join either the G.I JOE team or the villainous COBRA organization, accessing a huge catalogue of iconic heroes and villains along with spectacular weapons and vehicles.

G.I. Joe: Special Ops will be released under the Syfy Games banner, which is the umbrella brand for Syfy’s gaming projects, including the partnerships with Trion Worlds (Defiance and Rift) and Bigpoint (Battlestar Galatica Online).

As part of the agreement granting exclusive worldwide licensing rights on online social media platforms for a fresh take on the classic G.I. JOE brand, Syfy Games will serve as publisher. Artplant, creator of the award-winning Battlestar Galactica Online, will develop the game, which will be free-to-play.

SDCC 2011 Zarana Regular & Variant Figures

Joe Declassified community member Gyre-Viper has images of the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Zarana figures! The regular Zarana has the traditional pink hair, pink top and blue jeans while the variant Zarana has black hair and is in all-black clothing with a “Cold Slither.” These items will be highly sought after by the G.I. Joe community so if you’re at Comic-Con, be ready to stand in a long line!

As with any early sample, colors and details may differ from the final product.
