Hallmark Introduces 2013 Exclusive Keepsake Ornaments at SDCC, NYCC and D23 Expo!

Three ornament designs will be sold in limited quantities at Comic-Con International, to be held July 18-21 in San Diego, Calif., and at New York Comic Con, set for October 10-13 in New York City:

At the D23 Expo 2013, slated for Aug. 9-11 in Anaheim, Calif., Hallmark will offer limited quantities of one design:

Hallmark Unveils Plans, Reveals Exclusive Keepsake Ornaments for Comic-Con 2012!

Hallmark announces its return to Comic-Con International in San Diego – the largest comic book and popular arts convention in the world. Celebrating its fifth year at Comic-Con, Hallmark will provide more than 100,000 attendees access to Comic-Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, visits with a Keepsake Ornament artist and sneak peeks of products to be released in 2013.

During the convention, held July 11-15, 2012, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:

  • 4-LOM and Zuckuss: This two-pack features the criminal droid 4-LOM and Gand tracking expert Zuckuss from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes BackTM. Created exclusively for event sales, 4-LOM and Zuckuss are the last bounty hunters depicted in the film to become Keepsake Ornaments. Limited run of 1,000 sets ($35 per set).
  • A Human Hero: This original sculpture is inspired by the 1986 comic-book masterpiece “The Dark Knight Returns.” This gritty adventure helped to establish the more realistic and complex portrayal of the Dark Knight in modern media. Limited run of 875 Keepsake Ornaments ($25 each).
  • Cylon Centurion: In the classic 1978 TV series Battlestar GalacticaTM, Cylon Centurions relentlessly pursue the “ragtag” survivors of the twelve colonies of humanity across the reaches of space with a single goal: destroy all humanoids. This gold-painted variant of last year’s popular ornament is Hallmark’s first Comic-Con exclusive to feature sound. Limited run of 750 Keepsake Ornaments ($25 each).

“We’re excited to return to Comic-Con and to reward our passionate fans with exclusive Keepsake Ornaments and first-looks at new products,” said Beth Dorr, associate merchandise manager for Keepsake Ornaments. “This year, we’re bringing back fan-favorite activities, such as daily pin giveaways, and offering new activities, including autograph sessions with a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artist.

Visitors to Hallmark’s booth in the Lucasfilm Pavilion will be able to meet and receive free autographs from Robert Chad, one of the Hallmark artists behind the 4-LOM and Zuckuss Keepsake Ornaments.

Also making a return appearance are fan favorites hoops&yoyo. Creator Bob Holt will be in the booth with the hoops&yoyo characters, Thursday, July 12 (4-6 p.m.); Friday, July 13 (1-3 p.m.); and Saturday, July 14 (1-3 p.m.).

Attendees also can view many of the new 2012 Keepsake Ornaments, including Edward and Bella’s Wedding and The Amazing SpidermanTM, as well as get a sneak peek of what’s to come in 2013. A series of collectible buttons featuring five Keepsake Ornaments also will be available for fan pick-up. The series features five designs, with a limited quantity of one design given away each day of Comic-Con.

Fans not in attendance still can be a part of Hallmark’s Comic-Con action. Hallmark will give away one set of Comic-Con-exclusive Keepsake Ornaments on Twitter before the convention begins. Hallmark Announces First New York Comic Con Presence

Hallmark announces its first visit to New York Comic Con at the Javits Center (Oct. 13-16), the East Coast’s biggest popular culture convention. Attendees will have access to Comic Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments and receive a sneak peek of product for 2012.

During the convention, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:

  • U.S.S. Defiant: The ill-fated U.S.S. Defiant is from the third-season episode “The Tholian Web” and celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original “Star Trek” television series. Based on a 2006 Keepsake Ornament of the U.S.S. Enterprise, it features luminescent paint that allows the ornament to glow green in the dark as seen in the fan-favorite episode.
  • Droids R2-Q5 and R2-A3: Fans of the iconic film series will recall the black-bodied R2-Q5 being assigned to the second Death Star as the red-trimmed R2-A3 flew along with X-wing starfighter pilot Wedge Antilles. The special-edition barrel-shaped Droids will be sold as a set.

This will mark the first year that Hallmark will create convention exclusive Keepsake Ornaments for New York Comic Con. Hallmark has produced exclusive Keepsake Ornaments in recent years for events including Comic Con International, Star Wars Celebration V, the National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention and Disney’s D23 Expo.

“We are excited to participate for the first time in New York Comic Con,” said Beth Dorr, associate product manager for Keepsake Ornaments. “The convention gives us a great opportunity to meet and interact with more of our most passionate fans who can’t travel to the West Coast and reward them with exclusive opportunities and sneak peeks.”

Visitors to the Hallmark booth 110 will receive a series of collectible buttons featuring quotes from the new line of Star Wars Gifts coming exclusively to Hallmark Gold Crown stores spring of 2012. A different design in the series will be given away each day of the convention in limited quantities.

Other activities include visits from Star Wars characters courtesy of the 501st Legion, a sneak peek of Hallmark’s Star Wars products planned for 2012 and fun giveaways.

Hallmark Unveils Plans for Comic-Con 2011

Today, Hallmark announced their San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives. Star Wars’  IG-88 and Dengar, the Comic Book Guy from “The Simpsons” and Descending Upon Gotham (Batman) are the select Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments that will be sold exclusively at Comic-Con International July 21 – 24 in San Diego. A limited quantity of these Comic-Con-exclusive Keepsake Ornaments will be sold. All three selections are pretty cool but I’m definitely getting Comic Book Guy!!!

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 6, 2011) — Hallmark announces its return to Comic-Con International in San Diego (July 20-24), providing 125,000 attendees access to Comic-Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, a sneak peek of product for 2012 and visits with creators of popular Hallmark characters.

During the convention, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:

  • IG-88 and Dengar: This two-pack features the assassin droid IG-88 and Corellian mercenary Dengar from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™. IG-88 and Dengar are the third and fourth bounty hunters to become Keepsake Ornaments. Limited run of 1,000 sets.
  • Comic Book Guy: Wearing his own Comic-Con apparel, the Comic Book Guy from “The Simpsons” celebrates his 20th year as a popular cartoon character. This is the second year that “The Simpsons” has inspired an exclusive Keepsake Ornament for Comic-Con. Limited run of 1,000 Keepsake Ornaments.
  • Descending Upon Gotham: Batman swoops down from the dark heights of Gotham in this Keepsake Ornament. A repainted version of a 2009 Keepsake Ornament, the Caped Crusader wears a contemporary gray and black bat suit rather than the blue and gray one popularized in the 1960s. Limited run of 750 Keepsake Ornaments.

John Wagner’s feisty character Maxine, the self-appointed “Queen of Crabiness,” celebrates her 25th anniversary in 2011. Since 1986, she has appeared on millions of cards and thousands of books, as well as Keepsake Ornaments. On Thursday, July 21, and Friday, July 22, John Wagner will be on site to share the inspiration behind Maxine, discuss how he’s kept her character fresh for 25 years and answer questions. Hoops&yoyo creators Bob Holt and Mike Adair will sign autographs on Thursday, July 21, Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. Asteroid Andy’s creator Peter Martin will visit the booth on Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24.
