Cartoon Network Panels and Events at Comic-Con 2012!

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Cartoon Network’s amplified Convention Center presence will include a fan-centric booth, buzzing with activity showcasing a life-sized, interactive re-creation of the living room from their hit series Regular Show, where lead characters Mordecai and Rigby spend a majority of their time. As the network prepares for its 20th Birthday celebration later this year, fans will have an opportunity to be filmed by Cartoon Network cameras in the Regular Show living room or in the Network’s 20th Birthday “confessional room” sharing some of their favorite Cartoon Network memories. Some lucky fans may even be featured on the Network during three upcoming marathon weekends!  For fans and collectors alike, this year’s Comic-Con exclusive giveaways will include five different Regular Show buttons and a sure-to-please Cartoon Network 20th Birthday mini-poster.

With hit animated comedy series Regular Show and Adventure Time taking center stage at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, events will include star-studded panels and signings along with other featured Cartoon Network series Ben 10: Omniverse, Annoying Orange, Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk, Level Up,Star Wars: The Clone Wars, MAD and many more!

DC Entertainment Reveals New Brand Identity

Today DC Entertainment revealed that they would be re-branding the company with a new logo that will be utilized on everything from comics to media to merchandise. It looks like a peel of their D over their C. It’s going to take a little while to get used to it. What it’s going to be called by everyone else? The peel, the DC flip, the Photoshop page turn? I guess we’ll have to wait and see what everyone else thinks… Here’s the press release.

DC Entertainment, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company and home to iconic brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD, revealed today a new brand identity.  The new identity is reflective of the company’s mission to fully realize the value of a rich portfolio of brands, stories and characters, distinguished by incredible breadth and depth across publishing, media and merchandise.  A new logo for DC Comics was also introduced, closely aligning with DC Entertainment’s new mark.

“It’s a new era at DC Entertainment and the new look reflects a dynamic, bold approach while at the same time celebrates the company’s rich heritage and robust portfolio of characters,” stated John Rood, EVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment. “It was just a few months ago that Superman, Batman and many of our other Super Heroes were updated when we launched DC Comics – The New 52 and now it’s time to do the same for the company’s identity while remaining true to the power of storytelling which is still at the heart of DC Entertainment.”

DC Entertainment worked with Landor Associates, one of the world’s leading brand consulting and design firms, to develop an identity that creates a visual connection among the company, its three brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD and its vast array of properties as well as celebrates the power of the company’s stories and characters.  The design of the new DC Entertainment identity uses a “peel” effect – the D is strategically placed over the C with the upper right-hand portion of the D peeling back to unveil the hidden C – symbolizing the duality of the iconic characters that are present within DC Entertainment’s portfolio.

“It was our goal to capture DC Entertainment in a dynamic and provocative identity.  Our solution is a living expression which changes and adapts to the characters, story lines and the ways fans are consuming content,” explains Nicolas Aparicio, Executive Creative Director at Landor’s San Francisco office.  “The new identity is built for the digital age, and can easily be animated and customized to take full advantage of the interactivity offered across all media platforms.”

The new brand identity will come to life across all consumer touch points in order to create a clear and consistent message in support of DC Entertainment.  The new identity will begin to appear on comic books and graphic novels as well as new websites in March.  Consumers will also see the new identity rolled out over time on other DC Entertainment products from Warner Bros. including film, television, interactive games and merchandise.

“We believe our new brand identity will strongly resonate with our loyal fans who will want to proudly express their affinity for DC Entertainment and their passion for their favorite stories and characters, this new look allows them to easily do this. Warner Bros. To Follow Comic-Con Autograph Ticket System

Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Entertainment are announcing today that Warner Bros. will follow the official Comic-Con International: San Diego ticket distribution system for autograph signings at this year’s event.

As in years past, all signings will be held at the Warner Bros. booth, which is #4545 on the Comic-Con show floor.  But under the long-standing Comic-Con system, Warner Bros. will distribute wristbands for signings via daily ticket drawings held at Sails Pavilion #9 inside the San Diego Convention Center.

“Safety is always our main concern with signings or events, so it is Comic-Con policy that access is regulated by a drawing for a chance to win — giving all attendees an equal opportunity to enter,” said David Glanzer, director of marketing and public relations for Comic-Con International.  “We are happy that Warner Bros. has agreed to utilize this system and thank them for once again offering such unique opportunities to our attendees this year, as well as their continued support of Comic-Con.”

Fans interested in attending signings at the Warner Bros. booth should review the schedule listed below, then plan to visit the Sails Pavilion at the time of each drawing.  All fans present at the appointed time will receive numbered tickets that feature a distinct sticker. Then a randomized drawing will determine which fans receive wristbands granting access to each autograph line.

WBTVG continues its Comic-Con tradition of hosting a special sneak peek premiere event on preview night. This year, the Studio is offering fans the opportunity to see some of the most anticipated new premieres of the year.

Alcatraz: Executive producers J.J. Abrams and Elizabeth Sarnoff deliver a chilling new midseason drama for FOX revolving aroundAmerica’s most infamous prison, the one-time home to the nation’s worst murderers, rapists, kidnappers, thieves and arsonists.

The Secret Circle: The ordinary becomes extraordinary in this romantic drama about a coven of young witches, from The Vampire Diaries executive producer Kevin Williamson, based upon the book series by L.J. Smith (The Vampire Diaries).

Person of Interest: From J.J. Abrams and The Dark Knight co-writer Jonathan Nolan comes an action-packed hour for CBS about an ex-CIA operative and a mysterious billionaire who team up to stop violent crimes before they happen in New York City.

Supernatural: The Anime Series: The popular series Supernatural makes history this summer as the first-ever live-action show to be re-imagined in Japanese anime style. Renowned animation studio Madhouse — working with the full approval of series creator Eric Kripke — produced the anime series, which mirrors the story arc of Supernatural’s first two seasons, providing supplemental stories ranging from prequels and spin-offs to untold tales that fit within the Supernatural mythology.
