NBC Announces Exciting Panel Lineup at Comic-Con, Including THE BLACKLIST, HANNIBAL, COMMUNITY, REVOLUTION and GRIMM!

The Blacklist, Hannibal, Grimm, Revolution and Community will headline at Comic-Con, along with NBC talent from Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Ironside also participating on various panels.

Featured during the Grimm panel will be a special trailer of the new Friday night series Dracula, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

NBC Announces Five Drama Series Renewals for Next Season REVOLUTION, CHICAGO FIRE, PARENTHOOD, GRIMM and LAW & ORDER: SVU are all due back for 22 episodes

The announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment.

“On the verge of our 2013 fall scheduling decisions, we’re pleased to renew five drama series that will be important to our new season line-up,” Salke said. “We’re proud and very appreciative of all of the actors, producers, writers and directors who work so hard to deliver such high-quality work week in and week out. These complex shows represent a broad range of genres and tones, and all of them stand out for us in a television landscape now filled with one-hour series. We’re especially pleased to be renewing Revolution and Chicago Fire – two first-season successes – and there will be more returning series announcements made in the next couple of weeks.”

Revolution, the Monday night drama that centers on a family trying to reunite amidst a worldwide power failure, is executive produced by Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (“Lost,” “Star Trek”). The series is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions, Kripke Enterprises and Warner Bros. Television.

Revolution is the season’s top-rated drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and top-rated new series among those networks in adults 18-49, scoring a 4.6 rating, 12 share and 11.8 million viewers overall in “most current” averages for the season to date. Revolution has teamed with The Voice to help improve NBC’s Mondays this season versus last by 24 percent in 18-49 (with a 3.6 rating vs. a 2.9).

Chicago Fire, from Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf and creators Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, goes inside a Windy City firehouse and the lives of those who engage in one of our nation’s noblest professions.

In addition to Wolf, Haas and Brandt, executive producers also include Matt Olmstead, Joe Chappelle, Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski. The series is produced by Universal Television and Wolf Films.

Chicago Fire has topped its premiere audience of 6.6 million persons a total of eight times this season, and the only other new drama on the broadcast networks to have done it even once this season is NBC’s Hannibal. Chicago Fire originals have improved the time period versus year-ago results by 24 percent (“live plus same day”).

Parenthood, adapted from the 1989 feature film, examines the colorful Braverman family, and all its foibles and triumphs. The series is executive produced by Oscar winners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind,” “Frost/Nixon”), Emmy winner Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights”) and Lawrence Trilling (“Pushing Daisies”). The series is produced by Universal Television and Imagine Entertainment.

Parenthood grew this season versus last by 8 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.8 rating from a 2.6) and also increased by 8 percent year-to-year in total viewers (7.1 million vs. 6.6 million). This season’s last seven Parenthood telecasts beat both the ABC and CBS drama competition in the time period in 18-49.

Grimm, inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales, is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production. The series was created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf. Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner and Norberto Barba also serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf.

Grimm is Friday’s #1 series in adults 18-49 and is up versus one year ago by 14 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 2.4 vs. the year-ago 2.1, “most current”) and is up 12 percent in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 5.2 million).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will enter its 15th season for NBC. The series chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Television. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer. Warren Leight, Julie Martin and Peter Jankowski are also executive producers.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit originals this season have improved the time period versus year-ago results by 70 percent in adults 18-49 (“live plus same day”) and are building on the time slot’s lead-in by 31 percent in 18-49 and 70 percent in total viewers.

  • Local restaurant Tin Fish (170 Sixth Avenue) will be transformed into the world of Grimm as lush greenery encompasses the building and its surroundings. Guests can “Grimm their skin” and receive creepy Grimm skin carvings applied by professional theatrical makeup artists. Those who tweet photos of their skin carvings with the hashtag #GRIMM will be entered for a chance to win a Season 1 DVD collection signed by the cast.
  • Aunt Marie’s vintage Airstream trailer (replica) is coming to Gaslamp Square Park and fans will be treated to a personalized introduction from Nick and Monroe as they take a tour inside and see authentic props from the series including weapons cabinets, maps, the book of Grimm and more. Upon exit fans will receive a limited edition Grimm comic poster.
  • From the trailer take a trip through the Grimm forest and visit the Wesen Monuments for a description of which Wesen to look out for in the forest. Receive a Grimm / Revolution bag if you make it out of the forest.
  • Revolution takes over the peninsula tip of Gaslamp Square Park with the actual Ferris wheel from the Revolution pilot, and an abandoned car transformed into a garden. Get a Revolution power button pin and a re-usable water bottle on your trip through “Revolution Village.”
Additionally, a wallscape featuring the “Revolution” power button will be showcased along the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel’s (1 Park Blvd.) entire facade facing the convention center.

NBC Picks Up CROSSBONES, New Action-Adventure Series About Golden Age of Pirates

From the award-winning creator of “Luther,” Neil Cross, and successful producing team of Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (“Gladiator,” “Men in Black,” “The Ring”) comes an extraordinary action-adventure series “Crossbones” — with an unexpected moral center where one can’t be sure whether the pirates or the British crown are the villains.

Ten episodes of “Crossbones” have been ordered and production will begin in the fall.

It’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown, part marauder’s paradise, this is a place like no other on earth – and a mounting threat to international commerce.
To gain control of this fearsome society, Tom Lowe, a highly skilled undercover assassin, is sent to the pirates’ haven to take down the brilliant and charismatic Blackbeard. But the closer Lowe gets, the more he finds that his quest is not so simple. Lowe can’t help but admire the political ideals of Blackbeard, whose thirst for knowledge knows no bounds – and no law. But Lowe is not the only danger to Blackbeard’s rule. He is a man with many villainous rivals and one great weakness – a passionately driven woman whom he cannot deny.
Parkes and MacDonald serve as executive producers. Cross will write and also executive-produce the series. Ted Gold (“Three Rivers”) also is an executive producer. G4 and NBC Premiere New Season of AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR, The World’s Most Difficult and Action-Packed Obstacle Course Competition Series

American Ninja Warrior, the heart-racing and action-packed obstacle course competition series, returns this May to G4 on Sunday, May 20 (9-11 p.m. ET) and to NBC on Monday, May 21 (9-11 p.m. ET). The two networks have teamed up to search across country for the ultimate athlete to be crowned the first, true American Ninja Warrior. From schoolteachers to firemen to police officers to social workers, this competition gives everyday men and women the chance to transform into fearless acrobatic competitors at the six regional qualifying competitions held throughout the U.S. 100 finalists will have a shot at a $500,000 cash prize and the chance to win the coveted American Ninja Warrior title at the national finals in Las Vegas.

Comedian Matt Iseman (“Dumbest Stuff on Wheels,” “Clean House”) returns with his energetic, charismatic style as host and is joined this season by Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley, whose experience as an extreme sports athlete brings a unique and colorful perspective to the show. Angela Sun (“Yahoo! Sports Minute,” NBC’s “1st Look”) will serve as the sideline reporter giving fans an up-close look at the course and its competitors.

New episodes will air Sundays on G4 (9-11 p.m. ET) and Mondays (9-11 p.m. ET) on NBC (except on July 2) throughout the run of the series. A full broadcast schedule is listed below.

Each qualifying round begins with roughly 125 aspiring ninjas taking a stab at a first-round, preliminary course. As each of the obstacles get tougher, the 30 fastest competitors from the first round will move on to the regional finals. From there, the top 15 will then be deemed worthy enough to head to Las Vegas to take on the infamous final obstacle course, which is modeled after the original “insurmountable” course in Japan. The brand-new final obstacle course structure is located on the Las Vegas strip and presents the same near-impossible challenges as the Japanese original. G4 and NBC collaborated with the original Japanese broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS), to bring the course and its diabolical designs to the U.S.

The competition kicks off in Southern California’s historic Venice Beach boardwalk, where athletes from the Southwest and Northwest regions test themselves on the arduous course. From there, the action shifts to Dallas as the South-Central and Midwest competitors get their shot at fame and fortune. The nationwide-ninja tour concludes in Miami as the Northeast and Southeast regions get their chance to compete in the grand finale in Las Vegas, as the top 100 ninjas square off against the world’s hardest obstacle course.

American Ninja Warrior is executive-produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions’ founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed (“Hell’s Kitchen,” “I Survived a Japanese Game Show,” “Pros vs. Joes”) along with Lake Paradise Entertainment’s Holly Wofford and Viki Cacciatore.
