Zachary Levi and The Nerd Machine returned to Comic-Con this year bringing with them Nerd HQ. This annual event, now in its third year, provided fans with a home base during the international comic book and entertainment festival. Guests experienced cutting edge technology with hardware provided by Intel & ASUS; gaming showcases including action-packed Neverwinter gameplay; a sneak peak at the all-new, electric FIAT 500e and several exclusive parties including the festival favorite, Levi’s annual Nerd Party.

Spike TV To Present Fans A Front Row Seat To “Comic-Con All Access Live”

The Live Multi-Platform Event Airs on Spike TV on July 13 at 4:00pm ET/1:00pm PT

Spike TV announced today that the network’s live “All Access” multi-platform franchise, which covers the biggest events in gaming, pop culture and technology, will return with “Comic-Con All Access Live.”  The live event which airs on Spike TV, in HD, on Friday, July 13, from 4:00 – 7:00pm ET/1:00 – 4:00pm PT, will be the command center for all of the top entertainment headlines during the event, and the Comic-Con viewing party destination for fans at home.  “Comic-Con All Access Live” will cover the top panels and announcements from the event, host the hottest stars of the genre, including Mark Hamill, Kevin Smith, Zachary Levi and much more.

Comic-Con All Access Live” will also feature an interview with Stan Lee and the creators of Amazing Spiderman, in honor of the superhero’s 50th anniversary, an exclusive reveal of the landmark #700 issue of “Amazing Spiderman,” interviews with Mark Hamill, Kit Harington from Game of Thrones, and visits from the cast of Doctor Who, and MMA fighter Nate Quarry who stops by to talk about his “Zombie Cage Fighter” comic book.  Dhani Jones (former NFL player and host of Spike TV’s “Playbook360”) will also be on hand to give a behind-the-scenes look into the “Walking Dead Escape” experience at Petco Park, and viewers can also watch “All Access” host, Katie Linendoll run a quarter-mile segment in the inaugural “Course of the Force” lightsaber relay, dressed in an R2D2 costume, to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation.  “Course of the Force” is a Star Wars tribute event beginning in Santa Monica and ending in San Diego.  The relay race takes place from July 7-11.

NBC heads to the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con to showcase Revolution, the new drama from Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Jon Favreau, returning series Grimm and Community, and Bryan Fuller, executive producer of the upcoming series Hannibal and the upcoming pilot, Mockingbird Lane. NBC takes over Gaslamp Square Park (Fifth Avenue and K Street in the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego) to bring the ultimate Grimm and Revolution experience to fans.

  • Local restaurant Tin Fish (170 Sixth Avenue) will be transformed into the world of Grimm as lush greenery encompasses the building and its surroundings. Guests can “Grimm their skin” and receive creepy Grimm skin carvings applied by professional theatrical makeup artists. Those who tweet photos of their skin carvings with the hashtag #GRIMM will be entered for a chance to win a Season 1 DVD collection signed by the cast.
  • Aunt Marie’s vintage Airstream trailer (replica) is coming to Gaslamp Square Park and fans will be treated to a personalized introduction from Nick and Monroe as they take a tour inside and see authentic props from the series including weapons cabinets, maps, the book of Grimm and more. Upon exit fans will receive a limited edition Grimm comic poster.
  • From the trailer take a trip through the Grimm forest and visit the Wesen Monuments for a description of which Wesen to look out for in the forest. Receive a Grimm / Revolution bag if you make it out of the forest.
  • Revolution takes over the peninsula tip of Gaslamp Square Park with the actual Ferris wheel from the Revolution pilot, and an abandoned car transformed into a garden. Get a Revolution power button pin and a re-usable water bottle on your trip through “Revolution Village.”
Additionally, a wallscape featuring the “Revolution” power button will be showcased along the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel’s (1 Park Blvd.) entire facade facing the convention center.

From the convention floor, press rooms and Gaslamp Square Park, NBC.com will be on hand to capture and deliver a comprehensive look at all of NBC’s initiatives for SDCC 2012.

NBC also looks to engage fans via various social media platforms with active updates throughout the duration of Comic-Con on NBC.com, Facebook, Tumblr and YouTube, and by live tweeting during the panels. Beginning today, fans may also submit questions for the casts and producers of Grimm and Revolution via Facebook and Twitter.

Some Info about Nerd HQ at Comic-Con 2012

Second Annual NERD party will be bigger and better than ever at the HQ. Great sounds from Dominic Monaghan, Kinect dancing, drink specials and more.

The Nerd Machine is ready to invade San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter once again with an even bigger Nerd HQ. In partnership with Break Media, XBOX, and Vizio, Nerd HQ will be the highlight of the San Diego Comic-Con weekend.

The Nerd HQ has moved to the newly created Block No. 16 Union and Spirits. which has over 15,000 square feet of gaming, technology, and entertainment for visitors to enjoy.

The “Conversations for a Cause” panels are back as well and will feature some of your favorite Comic-Con icons. HQ will also be adding panels featuring gaming and technology. As always, 100% of the proceeds for the panels benefit Operation Smile.

Break Media will provide Live Streaming of all the panels and daily highlight videos to make sure fans stay informed. As a bonus, SPIKE TV will be broadcasting live from HQ on Friday and Saturday to their network and digital outlets.

Xbox, the gaming sponsor of the Nerd HQ, will once again fill the event with 40 gaming stations featuring the newest and yet to be released titles. Crystal Dynamics will debut the first playable demo of the completely reborn Tomb Raider franchise, exclusively at the HQ.

Vizio, the technology sponsor of the Nerd HQ, will provide Laptops, Tablets, and PC’s for fans to demo. Their monitors will fill the space and fans will get to see their newest 3D technology with exclusive content for Nerd HQ.

Our friends at Barco will be providing projection technology to create the largest 3D pixel mapping show in town.

We look forward to adding the “Conversations” and live events schedule to the site and we will make sure to give all the nerds a week to prepare before tickets go on sale.
