w00tstock will be returning for its third consecutive year to Comic-Con! It will be taking place on Thursday, July 12th. This geeky variety show is hosted by comedians Paul and Storm, Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage, and everyone’s favorite Evil Wil Wheaton from the Big Bang Theory. There will be other entertainers that will be announced before Comic-Con. The event will be held at the historic Balboa Theatre, which is next to Horton Plaza. Tickets are going on sale February 17th at 10am PT so I’d pick one up if you want to have a geeky, fun night! See you there!

For decades, geeks were ostracized, picked on, laughed at and punished by the sun’s harmful UV rays. But there is only so long that a people can be kept down before they rise up against their oppressors; and, indeed, the dawn of the 21st century has seen the ascendancy of geeks and geek culture.

We now celebrate that rise to power–and let’s face it, nerds pretty much run everything now–with w00tstock 4.0, a special event for geeks of every stripe.

Television host/special-effects artist Adam Savage (MythBusters), actor/author/blogger Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stand By Me) and music-comedy duo Paul and Storm (The Internet, Da Vinci’s Notebook) present a high-energy night of music acts, readings, comedy, demonstrations, short films, special guests, and other clever widgets born from and dedicated to the enthusiasms, obsessions, trials and joys of geek pride.

This is the dawning of the Age of Geekdom–and its voices will ring true at w00tstock 4.0


While all ages are welcome at this event (everyone must have their own ticket), please be aware the this show may contain some Mature Language and Content.
Please use discretion when bringing young children.

Sega Announces Sonic Boom Event during San Diego Comic-Con 2012

Sonic Boom will be held in San Diego, CA on Friday, July 13th from 5pm to 10pm (during San Diego Comic-Con) at the House of Blues. You can purchase a ticket from Ticketmaster, but you will not be required to have a Comic Con badge to attend Sonic Boom. Hotels in the San Diego area fill up quickly for Comic Con, so if you will need a hotel room, we suggest that you book early and/or consult the San Diego Comic Con hotel page.

At the first Sonic Boom last year, fans had a chance to play Sonic Generations, get some great swag, enjoy a great musical performance from Crush40, and more. We don’t want to give away all the surprises we have in store for you at Sonic Boom, but I’ll let you in on one — Crush 40, along with special guests Jean Paul and Alex Makhlouf from Cash Cash, will be playing live! Rock out to your favorite Sonic songs along with an audience full of other fans. Of course that’s just one exciting part of Sonic Boom… but trust me, it’s going to be a night you don’t want to miss.

We’re aiming to make it a great time for Sonic fans of all ages. We hope you’ll come hang out with us, Sonic, and a bunch of Sonic fans!

What’s Different This Year?
We’re doing things a bit differently this year, and we wanted to take a few moments to explain why, and what you need to know about the tickets for this year’s Sonic Boom.

Last year, we distributed tickets for free. As a result of this, we saw people grabbing up large numbers of tickets simply because they could, with no intention to use them. This made our planning more difficult as we couldn’t get an accurate headcount as a result, and many fans that wanted to come felt that they could not, because they didn’t have a ticket.

This year, our tickets are being sold through TicketMaster, which is the ticket vendor for the House of Blues. Second, we are charging a small fee per ticket this year — $15 for the ticket and a $5 TicketMaster fee, for a total of $20 per ticket. However, we’re also providing you with more than we did last year — there will be free food at the event (instead of for purchase, like last year), and each ticket holder will get 2 drink tickets that you can redeem for a drink at the bar. (You must be 21 or older with proper ID to redeem your tickets for alcohol.) It is our hope that this system results in more accurate records for us, more available tickets for fans, and a great Sonic-filled evening for everyone.

Last year, we had a separate line for people who wanted to get into Sonic Boom but didn’t have tickets. We did this because of the problem we mentioned before — we didn’t have an accurate headcount, and we wanted to let in as many people as we could. This year, we will NOT have a line for people without tickets. You must have a purchased ticket through TicketMaster to enter Sonic Boom. Although the event is held during San Diego Comic-Con, you do not need a Comic-Con badge to get into Sonic Boom. Just make sure to bring your ID along with your ticket.

ABC’s PAN AM Brings Fashion Week Goers An In-Flight Experience Without Having to Leave the Ground, Beginning September 8

Fashionistas Can Enjoy Free Coffee and Tea, Courtesy of Pan Am-Inspired Stewardesses

ABC is bringing an in-flight experience without having to leave the ground to New York’s Fashion Week attendees, SEPTEMBER 8-14. Pan Am-inspired stewardesses will be stationed at coffee carts offering up coffee and tea each morning to local New Yorkers and attendees of some of the biggest fashion shows in New York City.

In addition to providing beverages, stewardesses will also be handing out the must-have bags of the season – the highly coveted Pan Am Explorer bag, as well as Pan Am track bags — that people have been buzzing about since their debut at San Diego Comic-Con.

Scheduled dates and times in and around Lincoln Center for the In-Flight Experience are as follows:

With Comic-Con 2011 just a week away, anticipation is at a fever pitch, and things are getting so hot, the Warner Bros. booth (#4545) at Comic-Con will be on fire! (Figuratively, at least.) The Warner Bros. booth is always a must-visit destination for fans, and this year is no exception, with prizes, multiple daily giveaways, autograph signings and more. And, at 3,600 square feet, this will be the biggest Warner Bros. booth ever.

One lucky Con-goer will be driving home from San Diego in style, as the Studio is celebrating Warner Bros. Animation’s new hit animated comedy series The Looney Tunes Show (Tuesdays 8/7c on Cartoon Network) by giving away a Tweety Bird–branded convertible Volkswagen Bug at the Warner Bros. booth!

From the producers of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, ATTACK THE BLOCK follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who try to defend their turf against an invasion of savage alien creatures, turning a South London apartment complex into an extraterrestrial war zone.

There will be a special screening of the film on Thursday, July 21st at 10pm at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego, CA, followed by a Q&A with one of the film’s stars John Boyega, writer/director Joe Cornish, and executive producer Edgar Wright. Starting today, fans can secure tickets, on a first come first serve basis, on the following sites: Ain’t It Cool News (www.aintitcool.com), Badass Digest (www.badassdigest.com), Collider (www.collider.com), and /Film (www.slashfilm.com). A limited number of tickets will also be available at the Sony booth on the convention center floor at Comic-Con.
