Upon contacting a potential winner and determining that he/she has met all eligibility requirements of the Promotion, including without limitation the execution of required waivers, publicity and liability releases and disclaimers, and, at Sponsor’s discretion, successful completion of a background check, such individual will be declared the “winner” of the Promotion.

Affidavits and releases must be returned within one (1) day from the date that Sponsor first tries to notify the potential winner. Sponsor may conduct a background check to confirm any potential winner’s eligibility and compliance with these rules. By entering, you agree to cooperate reasonably with any such background check. If the prize includes participation in any public event(s) or publicity, or if Sponsor Entities intend to publicize the winner in any way, and if a background check reveals that a potential winner has engaged in conduct that could damage the reputation or business of any Sponsor Entity, as determined by Sponsor in its discretion, the potential winner may be disqualified and the prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Use of bots or other automated process to enter is prohibited and may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsor. (iii) Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Promotion if it is not capable of completion as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure or technical failures of any sort. (iv) Sponsor Entities are not responsible for errors in the administration or fulfillment of this Promotion, including without limitation mechanical, human, printing, distribution or production errors, and may cancel, terminate or modify this Promotion based upon such error at its sole discretion without liability. In no event will Sponsor be responsible for awarding more than the number of prizes specified in these rules. (v) In the event this Promotion is cancelled or terminated, pursuant to subparagraph (iii) or (iv), Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. (vi) SPONSOR ENTITIES MAKE NO WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS OR GUARANTEES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, AS REGARDS THIS PROMOTION OR THE MERCHANTABILITY, QUALITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE REGARDING ANY PRIZE OR ANY COMPONENT OF ANY PRIZE. (vii) CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. (viii) The value(s) of the prize(s) set forth above represent Sponsor’s good faith determination of the approximate retail value(s) thereof; the actual fair market value(s) as ultimately determined by Sponsor are final and binding and cannot be challenged or appealed. In the event the stated approximate retail value(s) of a prize is more than the actual fair market value of that prize, the difference will not be awarded in cash or otherwise. Syfy’s Hit Series FACE OFF Debuts Season Three on a New Night and Time Tuesday, August 21 at 9 PM ET/PT

A New Group of Talented Special Effects Make-Up Artists Join Host McKenzie Westmore for an Exciting Season of Movie Make-up Magic

Returning as Judges are Ve Neill and Glenn Hetrick, Joined by New Judge Neville Page

Guest Judge Appearances Include Brian Grazer, Kevin Smith, Gale Anne Hurd, Sean Astin, Matthew Wood, Paul WS Anderson, Laila Ali and Barney Burman

A new season of infinite imagination and fantastic make-up magic ignites with the third season of Syfy‘s most popular unscripted series, Face Off, premiering on a new night and time, Tuesday, August 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The season will introduce a talented group of special effects make-up artists who will meet face to face in Los Angeles to compete in a series of elaborate challenges that will ultimately determine just who has the skillful hand to win Face Off.

Face Off is an authentic depiction of the high creative standards necessary for a special effects make-up artist to succeed in their craft. The series debuted in January 2011 as a new reality competition program to critical and ratings success. The second season finale of Face Off became the most watched unscripted telecast in Syfy’s nearly 20-year history, transforming 3.58 million total viewers, based on Live +7 data. This also established a Syfy original series record – for scripted and unscripted programs – for most Adults 18-34 viewers with 1.01 million.

Returning to the lab for the new season is actress and host McKenzie Westmore, along with judges Ve Neill (The Hunger Games, Pirates of the Caribbean) and Glenn Hetrick (Mad Men, Heroes). Patrick Tatopolous will sit on the judges’ panel for the premiere episode, before he starts production design on his latest project, 300: Battle of Artemisia.

Joining the series as the new judge is Neville Page, Lead Creature Designer on the highest grossing movie of all time Avatar, Character Designer on Ridley Scott’s recent blockbuster Prometheus, Lead Creature and Character Designer on J.J. Abram’s Star Trek, Lead Concept Designer on Tron: Legacy and Creature Designer on Super 8. Page’s upcoming films include Creature Designer on The Amazing Spider-Man and his most recent work on J.J. Abram’s highly anticipated next installment of the Star Trek film-franchise.

The season also boasts an array of prominent guest judge appearances including Academy-Award winning producer Brian Grazer (How The Grinch Stole Christmas, A Beautiful Mind), Kevin Smith (Red State), Gale Anne Hurd (Aliens, The Walking Dead), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), LucasFilm collaborator and actor Matthew Wood (Star Wars prequels), Paul WS Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Resident Evil: Afterlife), boxer Laila Ali and Oscar-nominated makeup artist Barney Burman (Star Trek, Mission Impossible III).

The challenges featured will be some of the most difficult, creative and inventive yet: the contestants will create eye-popping new creatures inspired by the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, an original alien character inspired by the classic cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope, as well as creations for a challenge inspired by the NBC series Grimm. The challenges will be set against the backdrop of Southern California, from the high seas off the coast of San Diego to the WhoVille set at the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot.

The Face Off contestants will be whittled down week by week as they compete to outshine their competition. The winning artist will receive $100,000 and will also be given the opportunity to become a guest lecturer at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academies in New York and Paris.

To meet the cast of season three, see photo galleries and video, visit www.syfy.com/faceoff. Photography and bios are also available at www.nbcumv.com. Following are the season three Face Off contestants:

  • Carpucine Childs, 30 – Marietta, GA

  • Derek Garcia, 32 – Pembroke Pines, FL
  • Eric Garcia, 32 – Kissimmee, FL

San Diego Comic-Con Masquerade

Before we get to the info below, the Masquerade for this year’s Comic-Con is already full, so you’ll have to  apply early next year to enter to ensure that you get an entry… Good luck to this year’s entrants and good luck to y’all that will enter next year!

Also this year’s Masquerade will be on Saturday from 8:30 PM  to approximately 11:30 PM in Ballroom 20 of the Convention Center. Doors will open at 7:45 for audience seating, but get there early!! People will be lining up much earlier.

Saturday night at Comic-Con is a unique evening of fun and spectacle as the stage lights brighten, the music swells, the spotlights focus center-stage, and the 4,000+ audience that’s lined up many hours in advance take their seats for the 37th annual Masquerade costume show.

Comic-Con is a celebration of the popular arts, and costumes play a vital role in nearly all of them, from movies, TV, comic books, fantasy art, and Broadway shows to computer games, toy collectibles, and more. The Saturday night costume competition is for attendees to showcase their own amazing talents and creativity. It’s a night where you never know what will happen next, a show full of spectacle, beauty, awe, comedy, battles, song and dance, surprises, and of course many impressive and clever costumes.

Not a dance or party as the name Masquerade might imply, the event is staged in the style of a talent competition, with a Master of Ceremonies, a panel of guest judges from costume-related fields, impressive trophies and cash awards, a large raised stage with theater-style lighting, and four giant high-definition video screens providing great close-up views gathered by multiple cameras. An audience of 4,200 fills the convention center’s large ballroom to capacity, and about 2,000 more people watch the show on large video screens in the nearby Sails Pavilion and a second ballroom.

Some entries feature solo costumes, others are groups with a shared theme. Many costumes are re-creations from film, anime, games, and comics, but some completely original designs are presented as well. All genres are welcome, but no purchased costumes are allowed, as this is a contest of creativity and craftsmanship, not shopping ability. The Masters of Ceremonies will once again be the entertaining award-winning artists and writers Phil and Kaja Foglio of Studio Foglio.

Impressive Comic-Con awards, featuring our beautiful new Comic-Con Masquerade medallions, will be presented in categories of Best In Show, Judges’ Choice, Best Re-Creation, Best Original Design, Best Workmanship, Most Humorous, Most Beautiful, Best Novice, and Best Young Fan. The new Masquerade Medallions that will be given out this year is show below.

San Diego Comic-Con Will Release 1500 4-Day Passes

Earlier today, Comic-Con International announced on Twitter:

We expect to have 1,500 refunded 4-day badges available to purchase. Announcement will be made 1hr prior to the resale: bit.ly/cc11resale

and on Facebook:

Comic-Con 2011 Badge Resale Information

The deadline for refunded badges was 6-20-11. We will announce via our website, Facebok, Twitter and RSS feed when those refunded badges will go on sale. This is a soft opening so the announcement will be made on the day registration opens one hour prior notice.

We expect to have 1,500 4-day badges available for purchase. More information: http://bit.ly/cc11resale

They purposely avoided announcing a day and time as to alleviate the mad rush of people who would then over-run the servers that hold the precious “golden tickets!” The 1500 4-Day Passes will go pretty quickly even using this tactic but it will go much more smoothly than previous occasions.

The link from Twitter and Facebook leads to:

So basically, the pricing looks like…

4-Day Pass WITHOUT Preview Night (includes $6 reprocessing fee)
$137 — Adult
$68 — Junior, Senior and Military

…on top of this, you can only buy a maximum of TWO passes!

They also state that “Single-day badges will be available at a later time.”

Good luck to everyone that needs a pass!
