USA Network Returns to Comic-Con on July 21 with Critically-Acclaimed Original Series COVERT AFFAIRS and PSYCH plus BURN NOTICE: The Fall of Sam Axe!

USA, which just celebrated its 20th consecutive quarterly win as the #1 entertainment cable network and is currently dominating summer’s television landscape with a record number of original hits, returns to Comic-Con(R) for the third year in a row with talent and creators from three of its critically acclaimed and top rated shows – COVERT AFFAIRS, PSYCH and BURN NOTICE. USA panels will take place as Comic-Con kicks off on Thursday, July 21, 2011.

Making its debut at Comic-Con(R) is the entire cast of COVERT AFFAIRS, with a panel moderated by guest star Oded Fehr. COVERT AFFAIRS, which returned in June for its sophomore season, stars Golden Globe(R)-nominated Piper Perabo as Annie Walker, a young CIA operative whose exceptional linguistic skills make her invaluable to the Agency in missions that span the globe. The panel will also include Christopher Gorham, who stars as a blind tech ops agent and Annie’s agency confidant; Sendhil Ramamurthy, second generation agency man, Jai Wilcox, who’s intentions with Annie remain unclear; Kari Matchett, who plays Joan Annie’s no-nonsense manager and wife to Aurthur Campbell, the Director of Clandestine Services, played by Peter Gallagher; and Anne Dudek, Annie’s reliable older sister who has no idea what she really does for a living. From Universal Cable Productions, COVERT AFFAIRS is executive produced by Doug Liman and David Bartis through Hypnotic, and created and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who will be in attendance, as well.

PSYCH, USA’s current longest running hit series, returns to Comic-Con(R) with a panel moderated by guest Kurt Fuller, known to fans as “Woody The Coroner.” The entire main cast will take part in the panel including James Roday, who stars as Shawn Spencer, solving crimes for the Santa Barbara police department in his own special way; Dulé Hill who co-stars as Shawn’s best friend and reluctant sidekick Gus; Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s disapproving father; and Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson who play the police detectives O’Hara and Lassiter who unwillingly rely on Shawn’s psychic skills, along with the police chief Vick played by Kirsten Nelson. Joining the panel will be creator and executive producer Steve Franks and executive producers Chris Henke and Kelly Kulchak. PSYCH returns for its sixth season on USA this Fall. Also returning to Comic-Con(R) is one of the convention favorites, BURN NOTICE, with Bruce Campbell, and executive producer Matt Nix with a panel to recap of the series’ signature movie, BURN NOTICE: THE FALL OF SAM AXE. The prequel film to USA’s smash hit series takes place in Columbia 2005 when Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Campbell) is sent to advise a local military platoon. It’s there he discovers deep layers of deception and ultimately realizes he may be allied with the wrong side. Shot on location in Bogota, Columbia, the two-hour movie is directed by BURN NOTICE star Jeffrey Donovan. BURN NOTICE: THE FALL OF SAM AXE also stars Ron Reaco Lee, Kiele Sanchez , John Diehl and Chandra West. The prequel is written and executive produced by BURN NOTICE creator Matt Nix. Donovan and Campbell also serve as executive producers on the Fox Television Studios project alongside the show’s Mikkel Bondesen.

USA Network Empowers WHITE COLLAR Fans to Vote on Main Title Sequence on CharacterChatter.com

Change is hard. Just ask Neal Caffrey. Following an enormous outpouring of feedback from fans and viewers when a new WHITE COLLAR main title sequence debuted during season three, USA Network and the series producers have created a poll to give viewers the opportunity to vote on whether to keep the new sequence or revert back to the previous version.

Through the network’s secondary screen platform Character Chatter (www.characterchatter.com), fans can view video of both sequences and register their vote starting Friday, July 8, through Wednesday, July 13 at noon ET. The winning decision will air in the Tuesday, July 19 episode of WHITE COLLAR and remain the main title sequence for the entire third season.

“Where would Neal Caffrey be without a second chance? Our new main title sequence has been hotly debated with opinions covering a broad spectrum,” said series creator and executive producer Jeff Eastin. “We respect the opinions of our fans and we couldn’t think of a better way to reward their dedication than empowering them with this decision.”

“Our Characters Welcome brand philosophy is predicated on the inclusion of everyone – especially our audience,” said Alexandra Shapiro, senior vice president brand marketing and digital for USA. “So when debate ensued among our core WHITE COLLAR fans we decided crowdsourcing was an optimal way to involve our fans in determining the main title sequence’s fate.”

USA will message about the poll to fans through the network’s Character Chatter platform, which harnesses and amplifies the social buzz around the series by funneling in real-time a feed of text, images, and video from all social streams including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube. The network will feature on-air snipes about the poll in the Tuesday, July 12 episode, and well as information on the WHITE COLLAR website, and call-outs on social outlets including Facebook and Twitter.

Currently in its third season, WHITE COLLAR focuses on the unlikely partnership between con artist Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) and FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay). Caffrey’s expertise helps Burke catch other elusive criminals, proving that in order to solve the hardest crimes, you must hire the smartest criminal. But this season we’re not sure whose side Caffrey is really on. The series also stars Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson, Marsha Thomason, Hilarie Burton and Sharif Atkins. Upcoming guest stars include Diahann Carroll, Lena Headey, Eliza Dushku, Brady Smith and Beau Bridges, who is featured in the mid-season finale on Tuesday, August 9. Joe Manganiello will guest star on an episode when the series returns for its second half of season three in January.
WHITE COLLAR was created by and is executive produced by Jeff Eastin and comes from Fox Television Studios. Jeff King and Mark Goffman are co-executive producers. The show is shot entirely in and around New York City.

USA Network Builds on Scripted Originals Momentum with Series Pick Up of COMMON LAW

As USA dominates the television landscape this summer with a record number of original hits, the network announces today the pickup of the original scripted series COMMON LAW starring Michael Ealy (“The Good Wife, “Californication”), Warren Kole (“The Chicago Code,” “24”) and Jack McGee (“The Fighter,” “Rescue Me”). The series will start production next month on 11 episodes in New Orleans, Louisiana. The announcement was made today by USA Co-Presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber.

“When CBS Television Studios sent us the script of COMMON LAW, we immediately fell in love with the writing, the characters and the premise,” said Wachtel and McCumber. “We’re very lucky to have the Wibberleys, Jon and Craig guiding the process on this show; and with Michael and Warren, we have two stars who bring out the best in each other.”

COMMON LAW centers on Travis Marks (Ealy) and Wes Mitchell (Kole), two cops with a problem… each other. Wes, a methodical former lawyer with a passion for cars, gardening and his ex-wife, and Travis, a maverick ladies’ man who served time in juvenile hall, can’t stand each other. As partners, they were LAPD’s dream team on the homicide squad but constant bickering got in the way of their work and the two ended up on probation. To revive their flagging professional relationship, their Captain (McGee) sends them to couples therapy to help understand and resolve their conflicts. We soon learn that a successful relationship or partnership doesn’t mean you have to like the same things; you just have to hate the same things.

COMMON LAW is from CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment, and is executive produced and written by Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley (“National Treasure,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”). Jon Turteltaub (“Jericho,” “National Treasure”) and Craig Sweeny (“Medium,” “The 4400”) are executive producers. Dan Shotz and Karim Zreik (“Harper’s Island,” “Jericho”) of Junction Entertainment serve as co-executive producers. The pilot was directed by Turteltaub.

USA is currently the home to nine original scripted series: BURN NOTICE, COVERT AFFAIRS, FAIRLY LEGAL, IN PLAIN SIGHT, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS, PSYCH, ROYAL PAINS, SUITS and WHITE COLLAR.

CBS Television Studios is one of the industry’s leading suppliers of primetime network programming. with the #1 and #2 most-watched scripted series on television; “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles;” the #1 and #2 most-watched freshman shows of the season, “Hawaii Five-0” and “Blue Bloods.” The roster of popular and critically-acclaimed programs also include the phenomenally successful CSI franchise, along with Peabody Award winning series “The Good Wife,” starring multiple award winner Julianna Margulies; The CW’s hit series “90210;” and the daytime talk show “The Talk.”
