AMC’s The Walking Dead Becomes First Television Series Featured at Both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights Experiences

Guests Experience The Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Horror of AMC’s The Walking Dead At Nation’s Best Halloween Events

Caught in the middle of a high-intensity struggle for survival, you fight off hordes of flesh-hungry, growling “walkers,” or zombies. No place is safe as you make your way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland with horror at every turn. Will you survive?

This fall, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are joining forces with AMC’s The Walking Dead for their Halloween Horror Nights events. Visitors to both theme parks will be able to experience the horror of AMC’s blockbuster original series, The Walking Dead, in elaborately themed, haunted mazes. It marks the first-time Universal Studios has featured a television series at Halloween Horror Nights on both coasts.

The Golden Globe-nominated, Emmy Award-winning, series The Walking Dead is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The Walking Dead is the number-one drama series in basic cable history for adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Universal Studios’ Halloween creative teams are working with AMC and The Walking Dead, to create an authentic experience that is true to the Emmy Award-winning hit series. The haunted mazes on both coasts feature eerily authentic, elaborately designed, movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to “life” the vicious, hungry, zombies from the show.

“We want people to experience the same terror of the walker-filled reality our characters faced in seasons one and two – and will continue to face in our third season,” said Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer and Special Effects Make-up Artist for the series. “Our collaboration with Universal Studios’ creative teams is exciting as we work to truly capture the essence of the show.”

“The collaboration with Universal Studios’ creative teams is a fantastic cross-promotional opportunity and a great way to capture the spirit of the series, which makes its season three debut on AMC this October,” said Linda Schupack, AMC’s Executive Vice President of Marketing.

The Walking Dead puts real people in incredibly horrific situations where they experience true, raw fear, and guests at Halloween Horror Nights experience the same thing,” said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort. “We can’t wait to merge the two powerful concepts together.”

“With The Walking Dead, we want to make fans of the series feel like they are literally walking in the footsteps of the show’s characters, experiencing all of the horrific events from the series just as they experienced them,” said John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood. “The goal is to make guests of Halloween Horror Nights feel like they are trapped in the world of The Walking Dead, using all of the attention to detail and movie-quality production values that Halloween Horror Nights has become famous for. You’re no longer sitting on a couch, watching a show… you’re living it!”

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights(R) events have a more than 20-year history of creating incredibly entertaining, horrifying Halloween experiences that are consistently rated the nation’s best. The events on each coast feature highly-themed, disturbingly real, haunted mazes based on everything from film to nightmares — and streets filled with hundreds of specially trained “scareactors.”

Photos of The Walking Dead Action Figures From McFarlane Toys

After waking from a coma in an abandoned hospital, deputy Rick Grimes finds the world he knew gone — ravaged by a zombie epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. McFarlane’s figure of Rick features the exact likeness of the actor, taken from a 3D scan of Andrew Lincoln himself. Figure comes with revolver, shotgun, walkie talkie, baseball bat, and hand grenade accessories. Rick goes perfectly with the Zombie Walker figure, also in The Walking Dead Television Series 1.

The Walking Dead action figures are available for purchase November 2011. Click here to visit the McFarlane Toys website.

The Rick Grimes Action Figure
After waking from a coma in an abandoned hospital, deputy Rick Grimes finds the world he knew gone — ravaged by a zombie epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. McFarlane Toys’s figure of Rick features the exact likeness of the actor, taken from a 3D scan of Andrew Lincoln himself. Figure comes with revolver, shotgun, walkie talkie, baseball bat and hand grenade accessories.

The Daryl Dixon Action Figure
An abrasive survivalist, and brother of the outspoken racist Merle, Daryl Dixon is an all-new character created specifically for the hit AMC television show. McFarlane’s figure of Daryl features the exact likeness of the actor, taken from a 3D scan of Norman Reedus himself. Figure comes with crossbow, hunting knife, fire axe, pick axe, and even a string of squirrels.

The Zombie Biter Action Figure
This gruesome Zombie Biter was an important part of fans’ introduction to Daryl Dixon. Found feeding on a deer in the forest near the survivors’ camp, the Zombie Biter was beheaded by the group — but didn’t stop until Daryl arrived and shot it in the brain with his signature crossbow. Featuring McFarlane Toy’s attention to detail and like all of The Walking Dead zombie figures, the figure features unique play-action for even more fun. This one features a deer meat accessory and a spring-loaded moving jaw, so your Zombie Biter will actually bite!

The Zombie Walker Action Figure
This memorable Zombie Walker, clad in a dirty business suit, was encountered by Rick during his first excursion into Atlanta. Upon Rick’s arrival, the walker rose from the wreckage of a city bus and followed Rick to an abandoned tank. The Zombie Walker features unique play-action for even more fun. This one includes a special wind-up feature, so your Zombie Walker will actually walk!

First Look at The Walking Dead Season 2

AMC released two photos from Season 2 of The Walking Dead. It’s currently filming somewhere in Atlanta. The second series will have 13 episodes and premiere later in the Fall.

Executive Producer/Writer/Director Frank Darabont says, “At this moment, I’m standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It’s great to be shooting again. I think we’ve embarked on a great season.”

The first season was really good and I can’t wait to see what’s coming up in the second season. Anyone else think these “first look” photos look good? Pretty cool if you ask me. Hopefully, they’ll release a couple more photos before the premiere of the second season.

McFarlane Toys Unleashes The Walking Dead

Okay all of you zombie fans out there… This September, McFarlane Toys is bringing you The Walking Dead action figures to a neighborhood store near you! There are four figures for Series 1 and they are Officer Rick Grimes, Michonne, Zombie Lurker and Zombie Roamer.

Each human figure includes multiple interchangeable accessories and several points of articulation for limitless customization. Each zombie figure features unique, gory action features such as exploding heads and removable limbs. These action figures are expected to sell for around $14.99.

Series 2 figures will be revealed in November and includes Deputy Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Zombie Walker and Zombie Biter. I’m sure all of these figures will be on display at Comic-Con.

McFarlane Toys is excited to raise the dead and introduce a new line of figures inspired by the hit comic book series, The Walking Dead, which was adapted into a highly acclaimed AMC television series last October. The Walking Dead comic book series tells the story of the months and years that come after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by Officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.

The Walking Dead Comic Series 1 figure lineup includes some of the most iconic characters from the book, along with some amazingly realistic, yet dead, zombie counterparts. Now let’s turn off the lights and hide under the blanket with a flashlight, while we take a closer look at this flesh-devouring lineup.

Officer Rick Grimes
A small-town police officer shot in the line of duty, Rick Grimes awoke from a coma to find the world overrun by zombies. Searching for his wife and son, Rick found his missing family seeking refuge in a camp of survivors on the outskirts of Atlanta. His police background and natural leadership qualities earned him the respect of his fellow survivors, who soon looked to him as their new leader.

Michonne
Not long after moving into the fortress-like prison, Rick and his group of survivors were approached by a mysterious visitor from the zombie wasteland. With sword in hand, and two leashed zombies in tow, Michonne came to the prison seeking safety and shelter. Little did she know — it would lead to her greatest enemy. Michonne survived the horrors of Woodbury, and her fearlessness and weapon proficiency quickly earned her a place as a trusted defender of the group.

Zombie Lurker
To Rick’s group of survivors, there are two types of zombies. “Roamers” are the ones that actively wander around, while “Lurkers” remain still until disturbed by a living creature. Like a Lurker, this figure comes with a gory surprise, just waiting for a human to get too close – this zombie really has a problem keeping it together!

Zombie Roamer
The only sure way to stop a zombie in The Walking Dead is to destroy its brain – and this figure illustrates that important fact in gruesome detail with exploding brain play action sure to both disgust and amaze!

The Walking Dead figures start walking on to shelves September 2011. So get ready to defend your toy collection from infection, otherwise that Barbie might just be part of a zombie feast!

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night is a new horror/comedy film based on one of the world’s most popular comics. Brandon Routh stars as Dylan Dog, world famous private investigator specializing in affairs of the undead. His PI business card reads “No Pulse? No Problem.” Armed with an edgy wit and carrying an arsenal of silver and wood-tipped bullets, Dylan must track down a dangerous artifact before a war ensues between his werewolf, vampire and zombie clients living undercover in the monster infested backstreets of New Orleans.

Unfortunately, I’ve read a ton of reviews from Italy and the fans are NOT happy. First off, they don’t understand why Dylan’s sidekick, Groucho Marx, is NOT in the movie. Xarabas, Dylan’s father is not in the movie either as one pointed out. The Italian fans also suggest that we read the comics and see their point of view. Not having the movie set in London also threw them for a loop, even though some fans understand it was probably due to trying to stay within budget.

Even after reading these comments, I think I’ll try to go watch this movie. I can see their point of view as it is one of their iconic characters in their country. Anyone else want to go? It looks like a corny but fun movie. It’s funny enough to see Sam Huntington in it. I think he does a fine job in Syfy’s Being Human, and think he’ll do well here as well.
