Wizard World Inc. Announces Los Angeles Comic Con!
Famed Brazilian Artist Mike Deodato Jr. To Be Premier Guest of Honor!
NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2011 – Gareb Shamus, President and CEO of Wizard World, Inc. (WIZD) (“Wizard World”), today announced the addition of a Los Angeles Comic Con to Wizard World’s 2011 lineup. The show will take place on Sept. 24-25, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Superstar Mike Deodato Jr. is the first guest of honor at the event. The Brazilian artist, well known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, The Mighty Thor, Wolverine, X-Men, The Avengers, and Batman, will be making a rare U.S. appearance.
“We are ecstatic to come to the rejuvenated downtown area of Los Angeles to celebrate the best of pop culture – graphic novels, TV, movies, toys, games, genre properties and of course, comic books,” said Shamus. “You can always trust Wizard World to bring the most diverse and robust collection of artists, writers, creators and celebrities anywhere.”
Clare Kramer, of Buffy: The Vampire fame, will also be in attendance. A popular guest at several of the Wizard World Tour stops, Kramer will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and take photos. “When I found out that Wizard World was coming to Los Angeles, I was so excited. They are one of the most professionally run organizations out there, and I just love every minute of it,” said Clare Kramer. “The fans, Wizard World, guests and vendors always have a blast at these shows, which is why I keep coming back for more!”
This event brings more of what the fans love about the Wizard World Tour. “There is a real need for a Fall event that encompasses all the best that pop culture has to offer,” said Mike Mathews, Chairman of Wizard World Inc. “We’re listening to our customers and giving them the show they’re asking for located in the entertainment mecca.”
The Big Apple Comic Con, which had been previously scheduled on those dates, will be permanently moved to the Spring. The 2011 Big Apple Comic Con Spring Edition remains set for May 21-22 at Penn Plaza Pavilion. As part of the realignment, Wizard World is also rescheduling the planned 2011 Atlanta Comic Con, with dates to be announced. The full event schedule can be found at www.wizardworld.com.

Mattel (Matty Collector) revealed their SDCC 2011 exclusives on AOTS
Mattel has revealed their exclusives line-up for San Diego Comic-Con. Figures include Green Lantern Movie Masters Kilowog, DCUC Swamp Thing, Blazing Sword Voltron, Ghost Busters’ Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, MOTU Classics Queen Marlena with Cringer, Young Justice Superboy in Cloning Chamber, Back to the Future vehicle, Franken Berry Dairy Delivery Vehicle, MOTUC Polly Pocket Collection, Monster High’s Ghoulia Yelps and Green Lantern’s Carol Ferris Barbie.
Probably due to the Green Lantern movie coming out June 17th, Mattel brings us the largest Green Lantern figure available — Kilowog! Mattel will be releasing a lot of Green Lantern figures this year and this is something not to miss out on. Kilowog will be selling for $25 at Comic-Con.
Swamp Thing is a very unique offering for Comic-Con as it come with 2 Un-Men which are only available for Comic-Con. You will not be able to get this on Matty Collector’s website after the convention. He has an awesome sculpt and has no visible joints as they are covery by his rubbery membrane. Also the packing for Swamp Thing doubles as a bio-degradable mask. He will go home with you for $30.
Next up, we have the absolutely MASSIVE Ghost Busters’ Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! He is the largest Ghost Busters figure to-date and come with packaging that doubles as the New York skyline! The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is not to-scale with the other Ghost Busters figures, but I don’t think you’ll mind too much. He will be $70 at Comic-Con.
Next up, for the collector is the 6″ Blazing Sword Voltron with Comic-Con exclusive box reciting the show opening — “Voltron, Defender of the Universe!” This Voltron comes with 2 swords. You will be able to pick him up at the convention for $30.
Queen Marlena comes with her royal green dress, scepter and sword. She also comes with an interchangeable space helmet head, rifle and blaster pistol to transform her back into Captain Glenn, Heroic Galactic Adventurer! Finally, Cringer comes with the queen as an added accessory! Marlena is packed as Queen Marlena: Heroic Queen of Eternia for Comic-Con and then as Captain Glenn: Heroic Galactic Adventurer for Mattycollector.com after the convention.
Young Justice Superboy in Cloning Chamber looks like a sure win! He will cost you $20 at SDCC.
This next one is super secret… No available photo of the vehicle yet! Doc Brown must be keeping this under wraps. This exclusive is from the classic movie is from Back to the Future.
Wow, I remember this Franken Berry cereal box! Well, this one is a bit different, it has a Hot Wheels car inside! The popular Dairy Delivery vehicle is what is inside and is yours for $20. Re-live your childhood memories… LOL!
MOTUC Polly Pocket Collection — The set of 3 contain Polly dressed as She-Ra, Kerstie dressed as Frosta and Crissy dressed as the evil Catra!
Next, from Monster High comes Ghoulia Yelps, the smartest ghoul in school, who is on her way to NekroCon dressed as her favorite zombie super hero, Dead Fast. She comes with a miniature Dead Fast action figure and a Dead Fast fan fic book that she wrote and illustrated herself.
Barbie is coming in a special Green Lantern action figure packaging. She is going to be Carol Ferris, lifelong friend and sweetheart of Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. Barbie will come dressed in her green flight suit and pilot helmet with the Sapphire logo.

Warner Bros. was kind enough to give MTV Splash Page a new banner for the Green Lantern movie coming out June 17. Can you name all the Green Lanterns shown in the banner? I can only get a few… You can probably do much better.
