SDCC 2011 Zarana Regular & Variant Figures

Joe Declassified community member Gyre-Viper has images of the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Zarana figures! The regular Zarana has the traditional pink hair, pink top and blue jeans while the variant Zarana has black hair and is in all-black clothing with a “Cold Slither.” These items will be highly sought after by the G.I. Joe community so if you’re at Comic-Con, be ready to stand in a long line!

As with any early sample, colors and details may differ from the final product.

I’ve also included images from AC Toys’ community member 泡泡天歌.

SDCC 2011 Exclusive TITANIUM the Robot from Tony Montalvo

Tony “Titanium” Montalvo, Sculptor of Keith Poon’s Myth Warriors and the Snackz zipper pull line introduces his new creation TITANIUM the Robot!!! He’s the muscle and the heart behind the whole Titanium toyz line. Tony designs the Toyz and TITANIUM builds them. The only problem with this is TITANIUM is clumsier than a rabid hedgehog. He’s the robot with the heart of titanium, which is an unbreakable metal, and he is homage to every influential robot that Tony has grown up seeing. Tony built TITANIUM the way Frankenstein was built, taking parts from other robots and piecing them together.

He stands 12 inches high, is all hand casted and painted by Tony “Titanium” Montalvo, the eyes and chest plate are glow in the dark, and he will make his debut at the SDCC 2011!!! The two color waves shown in the pics are the first to debut and will be very limited.

I don’t know about you, but they seem to pay an homage to Iron Man… LOL! I’m definitely going to have to track these down at Comic-Con!

I also noticed that he has a Mr. Toast hat that will be available hopefully soon at his website. I REALLY need to get one!

Dan Goodsell is the creator and artist of the World of Mr. Toast. He writes about the life and adventures of Mr Toast and all his friends (Lemonhead, Shaky Bacon, Mope the Onion and his best friend Joe the Egg). You can contact him by email at grickily@yahoo.com or Twitter.

Early Release of SDCC Exclusive Sketchbook by Grant Gould

Grant Gould (@GrantGoBoom) just released his San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Sketch Book called Geek Girls Strike Back! The cover is of Velma in Fett attire. From now until June 20th, you can order his sketchbook online and pay via PayPal and either have it shipped to you for $5 ($10 international) or pick it up at SDCC. After June 20th, you will have to purchase it at Comic-Con where it will probably sell out very quickly.

For those that want to read the text instead of reading from the picture…

I’ve done something this year that I’ve never done before — I created a new sketchbook just for the San Diego Comic-Con! 40 pages of new art (most of it never-before-seen by anyone but me), squarebound and magazine sized, and it includes a 1st-ever SNEAK PEEK at my upcoming fantasy project Blade Raiders!

Oh, and if that girl on the cover looks familiar, it’s because I based her on a Velma sketch that I drew in Chicago earlier this year. Velma in Fett attire, if you will. 😉

Now, I know a lot of you can’t make it to San Diego, so for a VERY LIMITED TIME you, too, will be able to get one of these new sketchbooks. There will be only TWO ways to get this book. Please read the following info carefully:

(1) From now until Monday, June 20th, you can order the book via Paypal.
Send $40 via Paypal (+$5 shipping U.S., +$10 shipping international) to grantgoboom@gmail.com and write “SDCC sketchbook” in the subject line. The $40 includes an inked headshot sketch on the 1st page (if you have a preference, be sure to say which character you want, otherwise I’ll just surprise ya). All Paypal-ordered books will be mailed the week before SDCC, so you’ll get it in the mail around the same time that the show’s going on (July 21-24).

(2) After June 20th, San Diego Comic-Con is the ONLY place this book will be available.
Copies will be for sale at my table in Artist Alley. Make sure you get there ASAP, because the books will sell out, and once they’re gone, they’re gone forever. If you’d like to order one now via Paypal (see above) and have it reserved for pick-up at SDCC, that’s fine — just pay the amount minus shipping, and let me know that it’s for pick-up.

Thanks, everyone!
San Diego’s coming up fast… 🙂

Directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and written by Charles Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides, Immortals also stars Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies) and John Hurt (Hellboy).

The 3D epic is produced by Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300), and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) and will be distributed by Relativity Media worldwide. The Making of Warner Bros. Comic-Con 2011

Warner Bros. has released a new video clip on their Comic-Con 2011 page. Below is what was discussed and some photos from the video. I hope the information provided gives a better understanding on what goes on behind the scenes with the various companies that exhibit at SDCC. If you can identify any of the people in the video at WB or the photos below please leave a comment as it would be fun to know who they are. Also, if you like any of my posts let me know on Twitter (I’m @ComicConGeek there!) Enjoy!

As we rev up for Comic-Con, all of us are curious what’s happening in Warner Bros. Event and Marketing dept. So we are joined by Lori Wells (Manager Marketing and Client Relations). Can you tell us how has Comic-Con changed for Warner Bros. over the years?

The second, last year’s Comic-Con was over, we start planning the next one to make it bigger and better. So everything from securing the booth space, to the booth design, to determining the bags that we are going to be giving away. From every division within Warner Bros., we do different giveaways and different properties.

And really and Exclusive items too right? That you can only get at Comic-Con…

Exactly. And this year there’s gonna be some really exciting giveaways. We’re going to have some of those scanner promotions and going to be giving away some big stuff!

Let’s talk about the booth.

It’s getting bigger and it’s expanding… and its getting more exciting… More colorful, just more fun!

Whenever we go to Comic-Con, we know that somebody big and good is gonna be there.

Sometimes they don’t know what’s coming up next, they’re just waiting there because they know that their favorite actor might be in the booth. And they may get a chance to see them and get an autograph. So yeah, the energy that is surround it is just so fun!

Can you tell us who’s gonna be there?

Of course not! No!

I had to try… I had to try… But regardless who’s gonna be there… It’s gonna be worth it…

It’s gonna be awesome.

Yeah, right. Also, there’s a buzz that going around that there might be something different that Warner Bros. is going to do when it comes to ticketing at the booth.

Yeah. We definitely have a new system in place with the autographs and we’re excited about what’s going to happen with that.

Everything is going to be worth the wait and there is always going to be some kind of action regardless of what time that you come to the Warner Bros. booth.

Absolutely, and as with past years, we have these great, interactive kiosk where our gaming dept. has a bunch of different games that they’ll be introducing that people can play. So it’s always very fun!

Well Warner Bros. has never let us down when it comes to creating exciting and surprising things at Comic-Con. So we look forward to seeing you down there in San Diego or at WB.com.

NECA to show Evil Dead 2 Ash at San Diego Comic-Con

NECA has acquired the rights to Evil Dead and unveiled the head of Ash (Bruce Campbell) from Evil Dead 2. This should make horror fans happy as it looks extremely good! The sculpting is pretty much dead on…

It looks like they are pretty much set on revealing the Evil Dead 2 prototype Ash at SDCC which is a little less than two months away! The figure(s) should be out by October. NECA has a lot of characters to work with from the movie so we should see some very cool figures shortly. More info as it is released.
